Smith Barney



I was a stockbroker at Smith Barney (actually Shearson before
Smith Barney acquired them) for nine years. I was regularly
discriminated against by the management. That was the push I
needed to become an independent broker which remains one of
the best decisions I've made in my career.

My manager truly believed that women should not be brokers.
Unfortunately, his mindset is typical of the management style
that is ingrained. As long as they're making money, it won't
change.

Actually, the stories you posted are pretty mild compared to
what I've seen. I could tell you stories...
