"personal" discrimination

I was a volunteer at an out-patient physical therapy clinic to fulfill
my requirements for my master's degree in physical therapy. I worked
at the clinic for about 3 months. While I worked there, the environment
appeared to be very cliquey which is something I'm uncomfortable with.
Despite the high school like cliqueiness, I continued to work there as a
volunteer. I received a phone call one day from the clinic, and my
intuition told me that I was terminated. Well, I was right.
My immediate supervisor and
I made arrangements to discuss my evaluation and to provide me
with a statement of the amount of hours I volunteered there.
In essence, she told me that I did not fit in and that the physical
therapists did not like my personality. In contrast, my immediate supervisor
elaborated about how the clinic is like a "Christian" family. On a personal
note, I fail to see how employers could have the ignorance of advocating that
they are anything like a "Christian" family if employers cannot accept people
in general. In my years of working in various companies,
including Sear's and the United States Air Force, I have never been fired for
my personality, NEVER! Now, this is my first experience of another type of
discrimination that I feel should be illegal in most
cases.
I strongly encourage anyone with a legal background to e-mail me if this practice is illegal or will ever come to be.
