RALLY FOR WOMEN'S LIVES

Join us in the nation's capitol to show the country, the 104th Congress and President Clinton that the overwhelming majority of Americans oppose violence against women -- including anti-abortion terrorism and the tyrannical measures of the Republican "Contract on America." Thousands will rally to send an unmistakable message: WE WON'T GO BACK! We will fight back. And, we will perserve in the fight for all women's rights. This massive rally will give unprecedented visibility to the broad-based commitment to ending violence against women, stopping anti-abortion violence, and protecting the Violence Against Women Act. The rally will give voice to survivors of violence and galvanize young feminists and seasoned activists working to eradicate violence. The rally, combined with the Young Feminist Summit and the first national display of the Clothesline Project, will send a powerful message to public officials everywhere and inspire individuals to take action to end the violence NOW.

YOUNG FEMINIST SUMMIT ON VIOLENCE

April 7-8
This summit will bring together young feminists from around the nation, across the traditional dividing lines of race, class, religion, physical disability or sexual orientation; to network, strategize and organize to stop the violence. Workshops and working groups will feature concrete strategies, as well as the information and tools needed to empower young women to stand up to violence at school, at home, and on the street.

FIRST NATIONAL DISPLAY OF THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT

April 9
The Clothesline Project is a poignant tribute to women who have suffered violence. Rows of T-shirts commemorate or memorialize real women who have been battered, raped, assaulted or murdered. Like the AIDS Quilt, the Clothesline Project uses scraps of cloth to illustrate a problem of epidemic proportions.

RELIGIOUS SERVICE TO STOP VIOLENCE

April 9
People of diverse religious backgrounds will come together for an interfaith service. Early morning time and location to be announced.
