Peace in the Streets:
Join Millions of Anti-War Activists Across the Country

Momentum is building as NOW leaders and activists from the northeast to the southwest prepare to attend the upcoming anti-war marches planned across the country. Join millions on Saturday, Oct. 27 -- from Orlando to Seattle, from New York to New Orleans and beyond -- to take part in a national protest against George Bush's absolute refusal to end the occupation in Iraq and bring the troops home.

People will gather in 11 cities around the country to demonstrate the depth of antiwar sentiment in this nation. For some people, this will be their first march and an important step in transforming their antiwar feelings into action. Organizers hope that the strategy of regional actions will allow much larger participation and serve as a visible measure of the widespread rejection of Bush's deadly and misguided mission.

People everywhere want the war to end, but our national leaders have failed to take decisive action. With each passing month, the Iraq disaster claims the lives of nearly 100 service members and countless Iraqis, all the while draining our treasury of the resources we need to strengthen this nation. Our communities continue to suffer the consequences of this terrible tragedy -- a mistake we will be repairing for many, many years.
