Join Kim Gandy in Memphis This Weekend for Media Reform!
January 9, 2007
NOW President Kim Gandy wants to see YOU at the National Conference for Media Reform in Memphis this weekend, Jan. 12-14.
NOW has long recognized that we cannot achieve equality for women without full and fair representation in the media -- from ownership and management, to program content that is responsive to and respectful of women, to access for all to a broad range of information. Likewise, we must ensure that women's rights issues are an integral part of the burgeoning media reform movement.
This conference will offer feminists the opportunity to network with activists from around the country and educate themselves on a wide range of media issues. The list of speakers includes a number of prominent media experts and social justice icons.
Kim spoke at the conference two years ago in St. Louis and this year is a featured panelist on "Media Policy is a Civil Rights Issue." Many of the sessions will cover topics of interest to NOW supporters, and at the bottom of this message is a compilation from Women in Media and News (WIMN) of those sessions that are particularly relevant to feminists.
We hope to see you there!
