WORLD MARCH OF WOMEN 2000
Washington, DC
October 15, 2000
TIPS FOR PHONE BANK ORGANIZERS
-
Brief all new callers before putting them on the phone. Have them
read the March fact sheet.
Read through the script with them to be sure they understand what they
will be asking people over the phone. Run through a sample call with
them. Answer any questions about phone bank operations.
-
Touch base with all callers at least one time during the session to answer
questions and check results. If one person is having consistently
poor results, run through the script with them again and identify problems.
If anyone is uncomfortable on the phones, there is other work that needs
to be done.
-
Callers should not leave messages; either set up time to call back or simply
re-file card in CALL BOX.
-
Callers should not get tied up in debates. There are too many calls
to be made.
-
All cards that are not reached should be refiled in the CALL BOX.
Folks who are not interested, have moved, etc. should be filed in the NO
BOX. Everyone who agrees to attend the March or to volunteer should
be filed in the YES BOX. However, their cards should not be filed
until their volunteer assignments have been made or correspondence has
been mailed.
-
Remind callers to leave the area as they found it and to return scripts
and cards to the coordinator.
-
You will need the following supplies: three file boxes, scripts and
instructions, pens and cards to call. You should also try to provide
light snacks and beverages.
-
The coordinator may need to change or adjust the phone script over time.
-
SMILE WHILE YOU DIAL! Remind callers that their smiles are in their
voices. Be pleasant and have fun!
