NOW Endorses Oct. 2 March on Washington: One Nation Working Together
Septembr 15, 2010
On Oct. 2, 2010, thousands will flood into Washington, D.C., to march as One Nation Working Together. NOW has endorsed this march and encourages our members and supporters to stand up for education, employment and equality for all by participating.
The One Nation Working Together agenda advocates for political and social progress that puts people first. The policy principles advanced by this campaign will have a particular impact on women. They call for quality public education that is affordable and accessible to all, unemployment assistance that benefits those in greatest need, the creation of affordable housing, the protection and strengthening of the safety net, respect for all families, and much more.
This exciting event will feature prominent figures including civil rights leaders, activists for peace and the environment, faith-based leaders, labor leaders, celebrities and sports figures. Join these and thousands of others who believe in fighting for unity, prosperity and equality by placing people as the nation's top priority.
The vision behind the march is clear: "Everyone in America deserves a just and fair chance to achieve the American Dream. Our national identity is rooted in the ideal that all people - regardless of race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, or ability - should have the opportunity to fulfill their potential and contribute to an economy that works for everyone."
