We encourage all chapters to get an email account so they can receive NOW action alerts and press releases, and to send a message to the National Action Center to be included in our NOW online contacts page.
If you're not already using e-mail, you can get free e-mail accounts from several national providers -- as long as you're patient enough to sit through their advertising. Here's how:
If you need access to the Web and have a computer and modem, there are several companies that provide free Internet access: Juno and NetZero are two popular examples. You can also do a search for "free internet access".
You may already have a personal email address, either provide by your Internet Service Provider or through another service. But we suggest you create a new email address specifically for your chapter's use. There are several free web-based e-mail account providers. Some NOW activists use Yahoo! Mail, Google Mail and Hotmail. There are many other services, and several services which provide free forwarding options. Use Yahoo or Google to search for "free email account".
The advantage of getting a free email account or forwarding address is that that address can become your chapter's permanent address. If you use a personal address, or an AOL screen name, that address will have to be changed as the responsibility for answering the email changes within your chapter.
