MEDIA TRAINING, CONGRESSIONAL MEETINGS SET FOR WOMEN'S EQUALITY SUMMIT

NOW members are especially invited to attend the Women's Equality Summit and Congressional Education Day, Monday and Tuesday, March 15th and 16th, as reported in the most recent NOW Legislative Update. The event is being organized by the 100 plus groups who belong to the National Council of Women's Organizations– including NOW. The Summit features a number of terrific events, including a media training with issues briefing, a Congressional breakfast with women members of Congress, visits with other members of Congress, and a birthday party for Gloria Steinem that will also celebrate the new Ms. magazine. There is also a possibility that we will be attending a White House reception or a luncheon event with First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton speaking about strengthening Social Security.

The good news for those of you who haven't signed up yet is that the application deadline has been extended from February 16th to March 5th.  And, if you want to take advantage of lower air fares with a Saturday night stay in Washington, then you will be able to come to a March 14th Leadership Training, Issue Briefing on Women's Health, and Media Training at the National NOW Action Center, as sponsored by the NOW Foundation. There is a limited amount of travel assistance available for NOW activists.

You can contact Donna Hazley at (202) 331-0066, ext. 767 for an application form for the March 15-16 events, along with details; but please let us know if you are coming to D.C. earlier and can attend the NOW leadership and media training session. .

There are no costs for the Summit, just for your travel and accommodations, but there will be a small fee for the Ms. Magazine events which will also cover the cost of a one year's subscription.  To attend the Summit events, you will need to be a member of one of the sponsoring organizations.  So, if you haven't joined NOW yet or need to renew, you can do this over the phone by calling the NOW membership Department at (202) 331-0066 ext. 714, or sign up online at www.now.org.

Summit applications should be mailed or faxed to Mulhauser and Associates at (202) 463-0180 or 483-0182– and don't forget that new deadline of March 5th.  The earlier you sign up, the better, of course!  We'd love to see you there!
